The company, founded in Hamburg in 1838 by the English merchant, Charles Lavy, still produces handsewn ties today. It is one of the two last such companies still in production in Germany. There were more than 500 employees working for LACO at the turn of the last century, and even the German Kaiser Wilhelm II was a loyal customer. The special feature of a LACO tie is its lining. It is made of pure wool and retains its shape. Consequently, the fibres can regain their original shape after the tie has been undone. Material: pure silk.
